1. Zhan Beleniuk on Wednesday, August 4, won the first gold medal for Ukraine at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. A total of 19 medals (1 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals) are in the collection of the Ukrainian team by the last day of the Olympiad.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the residents of the self-proclaimed republics in the territory of Donbass to self-determine. “If you think that we are Russians, it’s a big mistake to stay in Donbass… you need to leave for Russia,” he said in an interview published on the Dom TV channel's website on Thursday, August 5.
