Time magazine has named Trump its “Person of the Year,” the person who has had the most impact on the world and the media headlines over the past 12 months. In response, US President-elect Donald Trump gave an interview to the magazine, published on Thursday, in which he, among other things, criticized Ukraine’s use of US-supplied missiles to attack Russian territory. His comments suggest that he may change US policy toward Ukraine.
“What’s happening is insane. It’s insane. I absolutely disagree with launching missiles hundreds of miles into Russia. Why are we doing that? We’re just escalating this war and making it worse. That should never have happened,” Trump said.
When asked if he would give up on Ukraine, Trump said, “I want to reach a deal, and the only way to reach a deal is to not back down.”
