He’s back. He has a direct line to the White House. Republican lawmakers including Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) regularly appear on his racy “War Room” podcast. Indeed, the Wall Street Journal says that, with the help of a small Gen Z crew that includes 23-year-old White House correspondent Natalie Winters, Bannon has become “D.C.’s hottest ticket.”
Perhaps the most telling evidence of his comeback, however, is a new cover story in the American Conservative titled “Bannon: Back and Back Big.” In it, Kurt Mills, the magazine’s executive director, conducted a lengthy interview with the MAGA impresario. There are many insights to be gleaned from Mills’s interrogation of Bannon, but his biggest takeaway is that Bannon is bolder than ever.
In his recent book, Finish What We Started, Washington Post reporter Isaac Arnsdorf notes that Bannon “believed that the MAGA movement, if it could break free from the oppression and marginalization of the establishment, would constitute a dominant coalition that could rule for a century.” Mills notes that Bannon “is more of a peddler of ideologies and information than a settled mind or a tablet of stone.” So his potential influence on Trump’s policies is hard to overstate.
