Sanctions against Kolomoisky and the racist scandal in the USA: Top 5 events of the week

1. The United States imposes sanctions against the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky and his family in connection with his involvement in large-scale corruption crimes as chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration in 2014-2015. This was announced on Friday, March 5, by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

2.On March 6, by a margin of 1 vote, the US Senate approved a package of measures prepared by the administration of President Joe Biden to revive the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic in the amount of 1.9 trillion dollars.

3. At a briefing on March 4, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal announced the start of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and warned of the possibility of a new national lockdown. Today, three regions - Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi - are already in the red zone.

4. During a working trip to the Luhansk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was vaccinated against the coronavirus disease COVID-19. In total, about 20 thousand Ukrainians received the first dose of the vaccine.

5. Publishing house Dr. Seuss Enterprises stopped publishing six children's books by Dr. Seuss after a number of images they contained were deemed racist. Dr. Seuss (Theodore Seuss Geisel) is America's most famous children's writer, author of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
