The National Interest: to restrain China, West must stop expanding NATO

Beijing and Moscow pursue one goal: to resist US domination. To restrain China - the main competitor of the United States - the West must oppose the Russian-Chinese alliance. To do this, it is necessary to stop the expansion of NATO, putting an end to its advance towards Russia. In exchange for this, along with the weakening of the sanctions, Russia must stop supporting the Ukrainian separatists. Kiev may not be happy that it is prohibited for it to join the alliance, but membership should be limited to those states whose membership actually makes America more secure. The contacts of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, though not immediately, but will be normalized. Europe will be able to restrain Moscow and hinder the deepening of cooperation between Russia and China. Moreover, Asia is likely to become increasingly important economically, and the global importance of Europe will decrease.
Unfortunately, for quite a long time, Washington has given cause for discontent to both China and Russia. Today, Washington must do everything possible to eliminate the reasons for combining his two most important competitors.
