The talks lasted an hour and a half, the Ukrainian minister said.
"I had two tasks - to agree on a humanitarian corridor from Mariupol to Mariupol. The second is to agree on a 24-hour truce to resolve humanitarian issues," Kuleba said after the meeting.
“From the first, I hope that Lavrov will communicate with those who make decisions in Russia. Unfortunately, Lavrov was not in a position to decide this. But he will communicate with his leaders,” he added.
It was also not possible to agree on the issue of a 24-hour truce, Kuleba said.
"We agreed to continue to make efforts to find a solution. After all, when two foreign ministers meet, they have a mandate to solve important problems - to stop the war and end the suffering of civilians," Kuleba said.
He recalled that the most tragic situation is now in Mariupol. Civilians need to leave the city, and help is delivered to the city.
Kuleba said that Lavrov repeated the position of Russia - the end of the war is connected with the demands of Vladimir Putin for the "denazification" and "demilitarization" of Ukraine, the recognition of the LDNR and the consolidation of the state's neutral status.
“I want to remind you once again that Ukraine has not given up, does not give up and will not give up,” Kuleba said. He says that Ukraine is ready for diplomacy and is looking for diplomatic solutions, but so far there are none.
