- On the morning of Friday, January 14, a wave of hacker attacks swept across Ukraine. The websites of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the State Service for Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Sports, as well as the Diya electronic service of public services were hit. The group responsible for the attack did not identify itself in any way.
- Elon Musk's SpaceX launched the Ukrainian Sich-2-30 satellite into orbit. The total cost of the project to launch the Sich-2-30 satellite was 250 million hryvnias, of which more than a quarter went to pay for SpaceX services.
- The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, announced on January 15 that he would return to Ukraine on Monday, January 17. He said this in a video message on his Facebook page.
