Against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Kharkov region, where Russian troops crossed the border and occupied several Ukrainian border villages, diplomatic contacts intensified.
During her visit to Serbia, the wife of the Ukrainian President Elena Zelenskaya met with the country's President Aleksandar Vucic and his wife Tamara.
“Elena Zelenskaya thanked for the assistance that Serbia has provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. The country sheltered 2,200 Ukrainians, provided financial assistance for humanitarian purposes, and transferred ambulances to the Kharkov and Cherkasy emergency medical care centers,” the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday morning on an unannounced visit to reassure Ukrainians of US support, according to an AFP correspondent who is accompanying the head of the State Department on the trip.
According to him, Blinken arrived by overnight train from Poland and should soon meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
“First and foremost, this trip is aimed at sending a clear message to the Ukrainians, who are obviously in a very difficult situation both due to the fighting on the eastern front and due to the fact that Russian troops are expanding cross-border attacks in the Kharkiv region “,” a senior member of the US delegation, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters.
“Today I returned to Kyiv to demonstrate our unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom from Russian aggression,” the Secretary of State wrote on social media.
At the train station, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was met by the American Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Oksana Markarova.
