1. On Thursday, January 6, the world media published a Statement by the five nuclear states - Russia, Britain, the United States, China and France - on the prevention of nuclear war and an arms race. In this regard, experts started talking about creating a new international format.

On the morning of January 2, residents of the 100,000th Kazakh city of Zhanaozen came out to protest against the doubled gas price - and a day later, demonstrations and riots began throughout the country. By December 9, as a result of clashes between protesters and security forces, dozens of people have died and more than 4,000 have been detained.

3. On Wednesday, January 5, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, called the protest that had begun in the country an act of external aggression and turned to the CSTO allies for help. The next day, the forces of the peacekeeping contingent began to arrive in Kazakhstan.

4. On Saturday, January 8, information appeared about the detention of the former head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, who had been dismissed the day before. He is suspected of treason.

5. The Pechersk District Court of Kiev decided to seize the property of the fifth President of Ukraine and the leader of European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko in the case of high treason. The corresponding court ruling was announced during a court hearing on Thursday.
